I came home the other day to find several care packages from the guys down at SRAM. Care package #2 of these large black boxes contained the new Rock Shox Reba Team. I have been a long time fan of the Reba fork (having owned two Race models in the past), so I was extremely excited to get this one in for review.
What Is New For 2009?
- Travel is increased from 100 (or 115 if you had the U-Turn option) to 120mm. You can adjust the travel between e settings…80/100/120 via the all travel spacers.
- The new 20mm Maxle Lite thru axle is available on the Reba which gives this line it’s first ever TA. The shipped fork came in this configuration.
- A completely redesigned chassis that includes the new Power Bulge. These were first seen on the Lyrik and Totem, so it is great to see this stiffness carry down the line.
- Post Mount Disc Brake Mounts – The move from IS to post mount continues with the Reba. This is a welcome change and every fork manufacturer went this route for 2009.
- New Damper – The revised Motion Control is in the SL and Race models and this Team gets the Blackbox version that used to be only available on the World Cup.
- Revamped Dual Air Spring System - More linear for 2009.
As expected, the graphics and overall look of the Reba has changed to an all black with red accents. That should make the fork match just about anything out on the market today.
I have also attached the promotional pdf file from SRAM so you guys can see everything that is knew about the new Reba line along with a complete spec sheet of all of the different models.
Weight w/uncut steerer tube and 20mm Maxle Lite installed – 3.84 lbs.

Black? All the ones that SRAM is sending out is that mundane white (that rarely matches anything) with these terrible decals. Thumbs down on the color. Homers and color coordinators will not approve. The fork is pretty good though!
@Neil: I really like the black over the white. There is not much I would be able to do with a white fork.
I agree with you on the decals. I think I like lasts years better, but the feature addons for 2009 are incredible. I can’t wait to get some serious ride time on it!
