MTB Photo of the Week: The Most Unique Trail Ever

This latest photo of the week comes from couloir and it has to be the most unique mountain biking photograph I have ever seen. Yes…they are actually riding down the Whistler Sliding Center track. What a unique experience…the same track that insane luge and bobsled guys bomb down during winter sports.

The biggest help is to use these links to JensonUSA, Amazon.com, Huck N Roll, Chainlove, Chain Reaction Cycles and REI when you get your gear. It costs you nothing and is a huge help to Bike198. These places have the best prices and service, which is why I've used them since before this website existed. I recommend them all personally.

was part of one of the weekly organized “toonie rides” that occur up here in whistler… this one was during crankworx so i guess they wanted something a bit special… def a once in a lifetime thing but maybe itll be an annual event.. its quite the climb though…

Put some rocks and roots along the track and it actually might be a worthwhile attempt. Otherwise, it’s just like ascending an asphalt road. Why would you want to do it on a MTB?

  4. patrick says:

was part of a much bigger ride…. including some pretty technical descending, and its tougher than an asphalt road…. the grade was up to 20% at one point….

I routinely do 15% – 20% ascents on my way up the pre-Alps around my neck of the woods. Personally, I don’t find it inspiring when its only asphalt or cement. Granted, it is difficult and tiring, but the scenery from way up there is terrific.
